foundations: f/w wishlist

wishlist

here are the items on my fall/winter/holiday list this season.

1. isabel marant etoile 'xavier' coat

2. all-purpose black biker boots: i love the Golden Goose version, but realistically i'll probably get these gorgeous Fryes instead.

3. a leopard calfhair small/medium bag. i am a little obsessed with the Jerome Dreyfuss one, but i also really like the clean lines of the j.crew collection leopard edie.

4. instax camera

5. fingerless cashmere gloves in a bright, cheery color

6. the amazing Alexa Chung x Madewell leopard boots. yes, i am a little bit more obsessed than usual with leopard this season.

7. some sort of vintage statement costume necklace.

8. a grey cashmere slouchy sweater to wear with favorite skinny jeans and aforementioned all-purpose biker boots.

9. marc by marc jacobs bianca hobo. it is the one classic and super easy to use bag that is missing from my collection. i like the understated direction that MBMJ has been taking this season - i had one MBMJ bag four years ago but sold it because it didn't fit my style, but the line consistently comes out with great leather quality and durability for the $$. tumbled calf leather, yummy.

10. Uggs*. this warrants another post, which i will do later this week. i am preparing myself for a collllld Shanghai winter, where poorly insulated apartments demand some sort of über warm and cozy houseboot option. more on that later.

11. leather bracelets. i wear my Flying Scissors cuffs every day, and got a chan luu wrap bracelet from a Gilt credit. they add just the right amount of color and texture to a simple uniform.

what's on your f/w list? have you ticked off anything yet?

  1. did you manage to snag an xavier on sale at net-a-porter? i was sorely tempted but couldn't justify it since i already have the baki.

i've been wearing the same pair of Uggs since 1998. it was a classic deluxe, or something like that, with an extremely durable sole. i don't care how they look, they're incredibly comfortable and warm!

  2. The frye boots are the better choice in my opinion--the others look more "trendy." And I've always heard good things about frye's quality. I like the leopard on the bag you featured, but J.Crew does have some nice leopard options. Also Kenneth Cole NY did some leopard flats here and under the Gentle Souls line too. I've gotten pretty lucky with sales and ebay finds. I'm shaking my fist at La Garconne only offering a pitiful 10% off over Black Friday weekend whenever everyone else is doing at least 25%! So I'll have to keep holding out...

  3. Living in the Southern Hemisphere I am more planning for Summer. I actually just got a pair of ponyhair leopard print sandals and I'm now looking into buying a ponyhair leopard print belt. Our wishlists are cosmically aligned :)

  4. I have similar, but infinitely more affordable boots from Steve Madden (the style name escapes me). Mine just have less and different hardware. I love them, even if I barely get to wear them.

My favorite from your list are the bracelets and the sweatshirt. I was actually considering getting the cotton version of the sweater from J. Crew but decided against it since it's not very practical given the weather where I live.

Man, I miss dressing for F/W.

  5. @erica i did! the sale came just in time. good to know that NAP does their half off sale this time every year! there are still some great deals to be had...

oooh. do you wear your Uggs as house shoes or as boots outside as well? and have you had to spray it with any water repellent thing or replace the shearling insole after all these years? i'm torn between getting some shearling Ugg knockoffs here vs just getting the real thing.

  6. @Prêt à Porter P mmm, thanks for the input and shoe links! funny, my bf doesn't like the GG biker boots either. they look so good on the girls on the Metier blog though! :P

la garconne is not known for their deals, so i'd recommend checking on NAP and Ssense and Shopbop for the same merch at better prices. ;)

  7. @catssaymeow your purchases sound amazing. i can't get enough of leopard calfhair furriness, and i've been obsessed with that for years now. i think i'll always have a weakness for leopard!

  8. @dontaskmetosmile oy, we just had another unseasonably warm day this weekend. i guess it's just global warming, but yeah i don't think i can deal with the subtropical climate permanently. curiously enough, there are so many shops selling shearling and fur items for winter - even though it doesn't get nearly cold enough for it! i guess people want to dress for western european climates anyway :P

  9. I wish! LaG is the only ones that have it. I've wanted this item for 3 years now... Sometimes I get lucky, I got my Rick Owens hoodie from LaG at half off during their summer clearance.

  10. I like the GG pair. Also, I love wearing my Australia Love tall nomad boots. I have these in grey and they are beyond comfortable. They go a little over my knee but stay up. They are also light but toasty warm and naturally water resistant.

  11. thank you sophie for your advice on the APC trench coat! :) i managed to get one from the NAP sale (which was awesome this time around) and it came in today. i was afraid that it'd be too big for me since they ran out of xsmall but the small was perfect. i could layer! i'm so happy with my purchase! aaaah, i hope it lasts a long time :0) thanks again!

  12. I'm still waiting for the European NAP sale:(! I think that I actually got most things on my wishlist. I finally found the pair of cords i've been onsessing over, I hope they're worth the hunt!

  14. Frye boots are really good quality. I've had a vintage pair for 7+ years now and they just wear better with time. Definitely recommend.

Post pictures of your Xavier. So curious what that looks like "in person."
