the holiday gift guide - {pour homme}

pour homme

1. Barbour bedale waxed cotton jacket - a classic wardrobe workhorse for guys and gals.

2. Want les Essentiels trifold wallet - clean lines, luxe leather, a true gentleman's wallet if i ever saw one!

3. the Art of Shaving starter kit - my boyfriend swears by the old school, proper wet shaving method. it's such a nice way to slow down a bit in the morning.

4. anchor-print socks - because a man can never have too many colorful socks!

5. Fujifilm Instax camera - give the gift of real photos - and then take a bunch together :-)

6. A.P.C. raw rescue selvedge jeans - a tried-and-true classic (skinny version here) for the denim minimalist on your list.

7. j.crew flannel pajamas - such an everyday luxury. i imagine Cary Grant always wore collared pajamas when he was chilling out at home.

8. Want les Essentiels iphone case - classy, understated, and will probably inspire him to beetter take care of his iphone!

9. DODOcase for j.crew ipad 2 cases - love, love, love the colors and moleskine-esque look.

10. Pendleton national park blanket - because everyone needs a throw blanket to cuddle up and watch 'A Charlie Brown Christmas'!

11. Steven Alan reverse seam shirt or Band of Outsiders shirt - take your pick: Steven Alan's signature relaxed and artfully rumpled version, or Scott Sternberg's sharp and dapper one. every man needs a closet full of the perfect buttondown shirts.

what are you thinking of getting for the guys this year?

  1. the instax camera was an instant hit when i gave one to my boy last year. he brings it to events like birthday parties, engagements and weddings and then gives the pictures to the guest(s) of honour.

that and he chases the cat with it frequently.

this year it is an inexpensive turntable from amazon -- this way i know i can buy him records for future presents. :) investment gift!

  3. I love the camera, although the film costs rather a lot!

My friend's birthday falls around Christmas so these lists really come in handy. Still, I admit, I am running out of ideas so I may get a some kind of food hamper - food is always a hit, and at least it doesn't go to waste.

  4. Oh I love these lists! I usually give my younger brother some sort of nice candy for Christmas, but I have no idea what to give my dad. He's difficult to shop for because he's happy with pretty much whatever you get him meaning you never know what he really wants!

  5. not related to this post but do you think the APC trench is worth the purchase? (since it's on the pricey side)

  6. @lin hehe that sounds just as lovely - especially if the foods are all yummy special ones.

i think it's expensive across the board to get instant film now that they discontinued it. i am thinking of getting one for myself though. i love love love having a physical photo.

  8. @Anonymous yes! :) i love mine and got it slightly altered (shorten the sleeves a bit) and now it's perfect. there is a discernible quality difference in the material (a nice midweight cotton gabardine, not thin or flimsy) and cut compared to cheaper versions. if you're going to get a lot of wear out of it, go for it!

  10. @lin and sophie, film for polaroids is quite expensive, but the instax film is readily available. i buy it in bulk from ebay, it usually ships from Taiwan. :)

everyone else's gift ideas are so lovely!
