i love mission-accomplished feeling of finding the perfect gift for friends and family. the whole time pressure of shopping, well, that's another story. a few items are perennial favorites for gifting (for myself and others!), so this holiday season i think i'm going to do a series of weekly gift guide posts. i hope this is inspiring and helpful as you go about your holiday shopping!
1. Diptyque candles - so indulgent, a great perennial hostess/holiday gift
2. Virginia Johnson shawl/scarf - VJ has some amazing prints out this season, a gauze oversized shawl that works as a travel blanket/wrap and chic all-season scarf is my indispensable favorite
3. j.crew grey cashmere sweatshirt - classic grey is a staple, but there are a ton of other colors to choose from. i love the luxe, slouchy fit!
4. Lomo 'diana' camera - i also love the Instax mini, or the Lomo instax version. adorable and fun alternative to our over-digitized world - i totally missed out on the polaroid era and want to time-travel back!
5. ginette NY tiny 14k gold nameplate necklace - i love tiny gold necklaces for everyday. this is an elegant (and cooler) version of the 90s nameplate necklace that everyone in my school wore.
6. sammy handmade in ethiopia leather pouches - also in tie-dye versions. i love zip pouches that keep things organized and can also double as wallets and clutches. sammy handmade has been making gorgeous ones for years with lovely buttery leather. and a percentage of the proceeds go to a good cause! :)
7. Marc by Marc Jacobs USB keychain - my plasticky USB just broke off my keychain, so i'm looking for a fun and durable version that will double as a little charm. found!
8. Karen Walker sunglasses - the tortoiseshell frame and purple lenses are so, so rad.
9. baggus in nylon and leather - can't recommend them enough. i've gifted them to family and friends in the last two years and everyone raves about how much they love theirs.
10. Marc by Marc Jacobs keychain zip pouch - handy little mini wallet for your metrocard, etc
11. j.crew edie bag - classy and versatile, with a vintage touch
have you started your holiday shopping yet?
This is a nice little list. I love giving gifts like these--indulgent little things that we wouldn't buy for ourselves normally.
ReplyDeletethankfully I never have to do it! :)
ReplyDelete@Quinn exactly! there's got to be a little bit of glamour and luxe in the mix :)
ReplyDelete@Prêt à Porter P never ever? not even on birthdays or other occasions? ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe J. Crew bag is a nice color but I still love vintage Coach bags more :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I was wondering if you could tell me what size your Rag and Bone leather jacket is. Do you think it runs big or small or true to size? Thanks in advance!
@ming vintage coach is really special. i am using my flap crossbody a ton right now. the leather is still gorgeous and not a stitch is loose after almost 40 years! (mine is from the 1970s when Coach was still made in NYC)
ReplyDeletemy rag & bone jacket runs true i'd say, i got it in the 2 because 0 was sold out, but the 2 is still a fine fit and allows a little room for layering.
nope. :)
