essentials: black and white

equipment shirt // slim black pants // j.crew necklace // vintage Gucci clutch //

hope you all had a merry christmas if you celebrated it, and a cozy evening of take-out and movies if not. per my last post, i'm planning on wearing this for new year's eve. a few weeks ago i ordered a glittery dress in anticipation, but even though it looked good on, it just didn't feel right. so back it went. in the end, my favorite Ferragamos saved the day again. (and yes, they run true to size!)

how has your holiday week been? what are you planning to do / wear for NYE?

  1. I wear an outfit quite similar to this one on days when I feel uninspired. It looks good and it's effortless.

I'm heading to the south for a sun vacation the day after New Year's so I am just going to sit back and relax, watch TV and eat with the family!

  2. I love the look so much. Just proves once more that well chosen accessories are a woman's best friends: a great pearl necklace, a well made bag and good shoes are enough to make magic!
Your NYE outfit's very elegant but not prissy and above all it's very "you"! I'm debating on the shirt tucked in or not, I love how it looks on you, just casual but my instinct would be to tuck it in.

I gave up too on the glitzy sparkly clothing, it feels gimmicky, especially on that evening!
I don't know what I'll be wearing for NYE yet but I have this lingering image of Vanessa Traina for Maje (http://cdn-elle.ladmedia.fr/var/plain_site/storage/images/mode/les-news-mode/autres-news/vanessa-traina-nouvelle-egerie-maje/15107328-1-fre-FR/Vanessa-Traina-nouvelle-egerie-Maje_mode_une.jpg) in my head so I think I'll draw inspiration from that easy look to replicate.

  3. My kind of girl :-) Looking classy!

I'm pretty much going to be wearing the same thing as you i.e. white silk blouse and skinny black pants, except that mine will be a round neck blouse from Band of Outsiders, skinny pants from J.Crew, a pair of Marni mary-jane pumps and a clutch. I'm terrible at accessorizing, so probably just a pair of pearl earrings.

  4. Lovely!

This year I'm ditching the grey sequins mini-length dress (my NYE dress for several years running; thankfully, the parties have been different peeps each time). I'm probably going to wear my new Brooks Bros. pumps my husband got me for Xmas, some skinny jeans, and a black crew neck sweater. Going for the low-effort look this year. :)

  6. My Christmas week has been perfectly lazy - every day has been spent with my nose in a book. I love your outfit, and I would love to wear something similar IF I was going out tomorrow evening! Seeing as I haven't seen the boyfriend for ten days we are going to spend it at home with a lavish meal and a few good movies :)

  7. Happy New Year!

An outfit after my heart. You look lovely:)

I love your vintage Gucci clutch. My grandmother gifted me a few of her vintage croc Gucci clutches and I swear they don't make clutches like that anymore. They're utterly gorgeous.
