wardrobe planning: spring 2013

spring wardrobe planning for me this year is all about foundations with a twist.

pullovers/knits:
[1] the grey cashmere sweatshirt // i just got it in the XS, and it's one of my new favorites already.
[2] i'm a bit over the moon for this petit bateau x kitsuné breton pullover, and its thicker weight would make a fine addition to my stash of striped shirts.

tops/shirts:
[3] a contrast-collar sleeveless cotton oxford // there's a big gap in my closet for sleeveless buttondowns, and i love the sophistication and work-appropriateness of this design.
[4] a silky camo-print tee // this is the easy-luxe piece of the season, and would pair equally well with flats for day and heels for night.

denim:
[5] high-waisted skinnies // a much-needed replacement for a pair of highwaisted 7FAM skinnies that finally wore out last year.

accessories:
[6] an oversized leather zip clutch // just so functional and chic. and the handle for secure all-day/night carrying is genius.
[7] oversized tort sunnies // the perfect take on the classic silhouette – i want to wear this with a red lip for spring!
[8] a compact zip wallet // the slim-profile mini version of my trusty CdG essential.

shoes:
[9] mid-heel neutral wedge sandals // the one pair of spring/summer shoes i'm still missing. a friend's upcoming outdoor wedding means that these would come in handy for day and warm-weather special occasions.
[10] dandy flats // the sleek profile of ballet flats with the arch support and sturdiness of loafers. these aren't too dandy, and would be perfect for work and weekend.
[11] kitten-heel slingbacks // the elegant, walkable heels that will go with everything.

what do you think? what's on your wishlist for spring?

  1. NEVER did I think I would go for a kitten heel but they are starting to look good again... so long as this trend doesn't devolve into the kitten heel flip flops of the early 2000s.

  3. Very elegant, very you :)
I have been shopping more than usual this year, thanks to a rash of sample sales. I can see more Indian influences to my style - particularly in terms of accessories. Crushed cotton scarves, Indian flat sandals and shoes, and a smattering of beaded bohemian bracelets and delicate necklaces. All worn with simply-cut dresses, loose linen blouses with skinny jeans or silky tees with cropped trousers.

    1. i love your picks - they sound so travel friendly, and still sophisticated and comfy!

i'm intrigued by Indian shoes - could you elaborate? :)

    2. Thanks :) the shoes are known as juttis locally - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jutti
I have a brown leather pair embroidered with red and green thread which I picked up from a crafts fair. So comfortable and so inexpensive!

  4. Those really are some lovely picks! I don't really have any planned purchases for spring except a new pair of flats, but over the last week I have been staring into my closet and realized that it really looks so much like winter. If I stumble across a nice skirt and maybe a few tops with a spring/summer feel I will probably pick them up if my budget allows it :)

  5. I'm not quite as minimalist as you are, but some of the items on my spring wish list are a navy cahsmere/cotton blend v-neck sweater, a military inspired jacket with leather sleeves and a pair of nude heeled sandals:)

  6. I love your choices! They are all perfect. I also decided to wardrobe plan per season, shopping my own closet (as far as possible) for the pieces and just posted my spring edit today. The most interesting part is the footwear choice, I've also gone for slippers, loafers and yes, kitten heels! These were all much needed in my wardrobe. Wish I could have some fab new sunglasses!

  7. I am beyond envious of that sweater. I've been thinking about it ever since you first posted about it. Can you show us a photo of you in it? So we can see how the men's xs fits? (Internet's so awesome in that it allows us to fully embrace the voyeur inside all of us!) Also love the silk camo print T. Love that it's silk, though I do wish the print itself were somehow more... blurry? I don't know, it feels a little flat, especially on that luscious fabric. But I do love the idea of a lux version of something so down and dirty.

  8. I am planning my spring wardrobe as well, trying to work towards a seasonless capsule (my dream of dreams). I am always inspired so much by your blog and because of I picked up a anthro lace and lines pullover end of season last to add some stripes to my spring rotation. I also love, love the clutch.

  10. Loving that your wishlist is exactly what you want it to be, foundations with a twist. I would add virtually every piece to my own wardrobe if I could. Since we are going into winter my list is a little of the opposite, new black heeled boots, super skinny jeans, silk blouses and some cosy knit jumpers.

  11. The grey sweater is beautiful! Lucky girl. I'm on the hunt for the perfect pair of blue jeans, a new tote bag, simple necklace of some description. I'd also like a small heeled or wedge sandal and a few basic tees.

  12. the simplest things are ALWAYS hardest to find. :P i have rediscovered navy this season - it's as flattering as grey!

  13. Ah that picture of the Trio...is it on your list? :) That picture is really selling the navy one to me, even though I'm convinced if I decide to get it ought to be burgundy. Still holding out for something more wallet friendly though.

I've been eyeing an MHL dress - not a big dress girl but it's been crazy hot and humid here and shift dresses are really perfect. But as usual I'm dithering because I'm terrible at buying things online; I'm always convinced it will arrive and look all wrong on me.

I'm hoping to scratch glasses off my list this weekend when I finally get to the optometrist.

  14. Nice picks! the grey cashmere sweatshirts look awesome and cozy . . . I'm curious how the sweatshirts at Everlane fit. Trying to puse cashmere ban on myself now that I amassed so many Inhabit sweaters. Just did an impulse buy of imogen and willie jeans and hoping that would work with my wardrobe for the next few years.

The kitten heels is a great idea, i'm slowly making a collection of it myself.

  15. All the items you thoughtfully chose are lovely and I like that you have motives for getting them beyond the basic desire to add something new and cute.
There are so many things I'd want but objectively I need shoes and pants. But there's really no rush as winter is still very much there.

  16. You can never have to many bretons- ever!

I really like your picks. I've been dreaming about spring and wearing a few of my favorite things and not being cold all the time. I have a big bag purchase on the brain (a gift to self for a career milestone), but I'm in no rush.
