wardrobe planning: fall 2015

hellooo, September. hello, favorite time of year!

wardrobe planning this season is going to be both focused and generalized, mostly because i'm also eagerly anticipating the Uniqlo x Lemaire collection next month. so glad to see one of my favorite designers lend his elegantly minimalist approach to such an accessible price point. the knits in particular look wonderfully cozy and versatile.

on the list:
PS1 bag in burgundy // i had a PS1 in tobacco suede a few years ago, but sold it in a round of closet editing. now i'm feeling a dollop of seller's regret. the burgundy they have this season looks stunning with the silver hardware.
those skinny overalls // yes, i was dubious at first, but after seeing Erica and Carmen rock the look, i'm all in.
a transitional weather cardigan or two // love the drape and silky knit.
chan luu silk-cashmere shawl // when it comes to a trusty essential, another color is always a good idea :)
giant acne wool scarf // see above. something to add to my seasonal scarves guide!
a lightweight down vest // i got the fitted jacket version last year and lived in it all winter long. this is perfect as a transitional seasons/layering piece.
classic blue shirting // looking to add one or two blue variations on the classic shirting this season.
silk printed blouse // love browsing the Outnet for deals on equipment silks – always a great selection.
striped print sweatshirt // on sale, and something about this sail print reminds me of vintage travel brochures. love.

purchased:
mansur gavriel tote // (reviewed here) the cammello leather is patina-ing nicely. love how lightweight it is.
l.l.bean cream cotton fisherman's sweater // picked this up on my recent trip to Maine. ready for chillier fall days!

inspirations:
mood colors: burgundy, striped blues, inky navy, greys.

P.S.: fall closet sale at the shop >>>

what are you living in lately? what are you in the mood for this season?

  1. Big yes to the skinny overalls! They look great with a turtleneck and blazer. I can't wait to wear mine once the weather cools off enough.

I am in the market for fall and winter skirts that I can wear on my bike. I have a shirt-tail hem wool mini from JCrew, but it's too big on me. I'm thinking an oversized chunky knit pullover, wool mini, and tall black boots.

We don't have Uniqlo here in Toronto, but I may try to order and have it sent to my parents' place. I would be so sad if it sold out quickly. I could easily fill my entire closet with those Lemaire pieces.

  2. Oh, how I hate the feeling seller's remorse, but at least the PS1 is replaceable, and comes in a gorgeous color to boot!

My fall list isn't that big, which actually feels kind of good. I hope it means my closet is finally working for me. ;) I picked up a beautiful leather jacket by S.W.O.R.D. that I'm pretty sure I'll be living in all season, as well as the Chan Luu scarf from the Outnet sale (thanks again for the PSA!). I'm also trying out the flares trend, although we'll see how often it will get me to wear heels. I lucked out on finding a pair of Isabel Marant heels on consignment for $50(!), but sadly, they are too big. However, the proximity to perfection has awakened the thrill of the chase, and I'm on the lookout for that perfect black pump.

  3. i made my main autumn/winter purchase this week: after searching for two years, i found&bought the perfect woolen winter coat ( http://www.acnestudios.com/shop/women/coats-jackets/adalyn-dark-navy.html ), also bought a 2nd canada-scarf, grey-melange.
i was in need for some decent black trousers and prepared myself to pay some good money: to my biggest surprise i found a perfect pair of cigarettes pants at topshop.
the last remaining item on my 'need-this-autumn/winter' is a pair of warm, non.slippy (ankle-)boots or shoes for the shi*e berlin winter weather.
acne has some really great knits this autumn, but they're on my 'want'-list and that list has to wait until sale-season...
will definitely will check out the uniqulo collection. :)

    1. indeed - price does not always equal quality/fit. and speaking of 'want' - did i mention that i've been lusting after the Acne shearling coat? sigh...

    2. OMG. those shearling jackets and coats.... one day, i'll find the perfect shearling coat in one of the acne archive shops ... half price or less! :)))

  4. I'm actually waiting for the Carine Roitfeld x Uniqlo collection as well. I've been documenting my outfits every day for September, hopefully by the end of it I'll have a better idea of what I need - already I know that I own too many black jackets (but they're all different textures! Cuts! Lol...)

I'm really hankering after a PS11 bag or the YSL camera bag, but that can wait 'til the holidays perhaps.

    1. right? i love that unassuming quality in his designs. they invite you to look closer and consider more carefully how they integrate into your life and style. :)

  7. I reaaaally want an Acne scarf and maybe an APC half moon bag. The latter is not a necessity, I'm just waiting for the right price. :)

  8. had a look at the uniqlo/lemaire collection today: there was not a single item i wanted. i loved the design of the square-sweaters but the quality is not impressive.
i bought trousers of the uniqlo-fressange collab - poor quality: i'll wear them next summer but then they're already done. :(

  9. Skinny overalls forever! They go with everything. I missed out on the Uniqlo x Lemaire. I have a couple of Uniqlo x IDLF cashmere turtlenecks I bought heavily discounted end of season last year that I plan to live in this fall/winter. The feel and quality seem to be good. We'll see how they stand up to wear. That LL Bean sweater looks so good -- how's the fit? I've found heavyweight cotton and white cable knit to be tricky for me. I revisited LL Bean too recently. I ordered a shawl collar grandpa cardigan in marled cotton. I have high hopes for it. I have such a hard time finding good, reasonably priced chunky sweaters because I'm allergic to wool :(
