I am not sure if I should order a S or a M. My bust is 36 so that puts me in the larger size, but my waist is a 32 so that puts me in the smaller size. I hate it when silk shirt gaps open in the bust area which makes me think I should order larger...but I also don't want it to look like slouchy pajamas.

Do you find that the fit is too "boxy"? I tried doing a search, but I don't think I've come across a post of yours on caring for silk shirts (or maybe I gave up too easily?). Because I'd really like to hear your thoughts on it. I've acquired a quite a few silk shirts and tanks, and some are hand-wash-able while some are strictly dry clean only, so I'm confused on what's possible for silk and what isn't. Even online research yielded such mixed advice and often involved using vinegar (which I'm wary of since it is acidic). I've followed all the labels for now, but ideally, I'd want to handwash everything, since over-dry cleaning can shorten the lifespan of clothes. My dry cleaners also caused a stain on one of my silk shirts, which makes me even more reluctant to send anything to delicate to them or any dry cleaner for that matter. So I would appreciate hearing your thoughts on this.
