Like you I want/need them be first and foremost comfortable, I grew up wearing Levi's 501's in 28x33-34 and they would shrink about 1.5 inches in the waist(they came up to my waist) and shrink at least to 2" in length. I remember well the breaking in process and yes I washed mine in hot water and then full, hot drying time(breaks them in faster). Now Levi's 501's are so poorly sewn that one leg seam ALWAYS wraps around the leg, no other pair of jeans has done that. Thank you for your post, by the way the jeans look great on you.picking up the slackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18137446707766886858noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7889754957463731831.post-20806398417954892742018-10-16T20:25:23.981-04:002018-10-16T20:25:23.981-04:00I am VERY interested in the apc petit new standard...I am VERY interested in the apc petit new standard, but nobody stocks them in Chicago, I wear a 25 in Frame, J.Crew matchstick and 25 in Rag and Bone unisex 'Rovers" sadly discontinued. My hips are barely 34" and my waist is around 27" I am 5'6" 115lbs, slender thighs and I just want a "normal" pair of all cotton straight leg jeans full length, no cropping, boyfriend or tapering. I kind of have a curvy bottom half so I was apprehensive about the fit--they ARE a bit snug in the hips (as expected) but the mid-rise fits comfortably at the waist. Seeing as you first posted this almost 3 years ago--can you provide an update on the current fit? I am hoping the hips do not become too baggy. They fit perfectly - like they were made for me. Like a glove. So I am thinking I should have gotten 26s. When they 27s loosen up maybe they won't be so fantastic anymore? This is tricky! I will say that they knock it out of the park and put all my other jeans to shame - jeans that seemed very good until just a few days ago.Full Househttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06660172394368941742noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7889754957463731831.post-776243286512892582013-11-06T22:16:18.613-05:002013-11-06T22:16:18.613-05:00that's cool that you found your perfect pair, ...that's cool that you found your perfect pair, jeans are so personal and particular. i must say though as much as i like the unrinsed dark indigo right now i am VERY looking forward to seeing the fade and crease marks come in on my APCs after a few months, and really show up after the first wash :)miss sophiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09427223953623415005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7889754957463731831.post-3351691970239724292013-11-06T22:13:51.610-05:002013-11-06T22:13:51.610-05:00understandable - it is a bit weird if you think ab...understandable - it is a bit weird if you think about it! luckily it's only a bit masochistic for the first week or so - after that the jeans really soften up and start to crease and conform to your shape. incidentally a few of my favorite older jeans now have attained that slouch skinny fit, which i love!miss sophiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09427223953623415005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7889754957463731831.post-63716468089395559162013-11-06T13:22:34.743-05:002013-11-06T13:22:34.743-05:00@silkpathdiary and @LPC - so interesting! i haven&...@silkpathdiary and @LPC - so interesting! i haven't been in a Gap since the 2000s when everything started being vanity-sized and fell apart after two washings. the "dry clean only" wash instructions on their website for the selvedge jeans is misleading though - true raw denim would be ruined by drycleaning, as the whole point is to break it in and get the custom fading and whiskering after the first wash...miss sophiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09427223953623415005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7889754957463731831.post-43983000588249032572013-11-06T13:10:33.918-05:002013-11-06T13:10:33.918-05:00I, like silkpathdiary, love my GAP 1969s. I got my raw denim from Gap back in April and it's the bf version. Dark blue denim had been on my wishlist and I like the fit of Gap 1969 on me (all my bf jeans are from there). I love how it reminds me of the 50's especially worn with check shirts and girly blouses. But I know I can't wear the straight leg atyle like yours so I cheat with another pair that look like straight raw denim but has a bit of stretch - it's incredibly comfortable and I totally love it too.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7889754957463731831.post-90409050756290434092013-11-03T15:07:04.424-05:002013-11-03T15:07:04.424-05:00so interesting. i'm completely happy with the ...so interesting. i'm completely happy with the jeans that i have so i don't think i will be getting any new ones anytime soon. i'm glad that you will be updating on your raw denim journey, so i plan to live vicariously through you! I tried on a pair of I can't remember which type at an APC stores years and years ago. All I remember is I broke a nail (or several) trying to pull them on and decided that I didn't have patience to break them in. And that was before I had kids so I certainly could not imagine doing that now! So in lieu of the raw denim look and to avoid the whole masochistic process, I go for a "slouch skinny" cut in 100% cotton. Acne had a version of this that they discontinued but other brands seem to be making a similar cut jean.melhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15307033436260905938noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7889754957463731831.post-82361760184014228532013-11-02T12:07:00.804-04:002013-11-02T12:07:00.804-04:00thanks Sue! let me know if you do try on or get a ...thanks Sue! let me know if you do try on or get a pair of APCs :)miss sophiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09427223953623415005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7889754957463731831.post-24934981059868169132013-11-02T12:03:19.899-04:002013-11-02T12:03:19.899-04:00oh yeah i won't be washing my APCs till at lea...oh yeah i won't be washing my APCs till at least the 6 month mark. probably will try to wait later, and will soak it in woolite black in the tub. another reason why i started this project now that the weather is chilly enough - can't imagine trying to do this in the heat of summer! :Pmiss sophiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09427223953623415005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7889754957463731831.post-67412170428252525792013-11-02T12:00:03.159-04:002013-11-02T12:00:03.159-04:00APC jeans are primarily a men's jean cut, so t...APC jeans are primarily a men's jean cut, so the waist-hip-rise is going to hit and fit differently on most women (unless you have a really boyish figure). have you tried the petit new standards? perhaps you can do an exchange.miss sophiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09427223953623415005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7889754957463731831.post-70277973985557077482013-11-02T11:46:41.770-04:002013-11-02T11:46:41.770-04:00My favorite pair of jeans is a pair of Japanese se...My favorite pair of jeans is a pair of Japanese selvedge raw denim by RRL which I found at a Ralph Lauren outlet, and I keep going back for more but haven't found them again. I went to the retail store and fondled a bunch of pairs but didn't want to spend $300+! They barely fit when I first got them, I really had to suck in my stomach to get the button to close. But after wearing them (and not washing them, kinda gross but necessary for raw denim I think) on and off for about 2 months they fit perfectly now and keep their shape after washing. Actually all my other jeans feel so flimsy now! Maybe I'll check out the APC ones, the RRL store is a few blocks away on West Broadway so maybe I can devote an entire day to raw denim shopping...koko // res pulchraehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06025950174615219356noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7889754957463731831.post-71276213057093006162013-11-02T06:49:40.673-04:002013-11-02T06:49:40.673-04:00I just bought a pair of APC petit standard in size...I just bought a pair of APC petit standard in size 26, a few days ago.
