emerson fry // fall 2013

  1. Love the coat and was intrigued enough to click on the link. Strange thing, it doesn't tell you the composition apart from Italian milled wool. Is that 100%? (I don't expect you to know). It's just that it's very rare to find a 100% wool coat these days.

But I like the persian lamb collar on it - I can feel a style hack coming on!

    1. hey Sue - i just checked with EF customer service and they wrote back with this re fabric and sizing:

"The Navy Peacoat is 70% Wool, 30% Nylon with a Faux Fur collar that is polyester and incredibly soft. The lining is silky poly/cotton blend. Most of our coats are very tailored through the arms and sleeves so if you have broad shoulders you may want to size up. In the photos the model is wearing a size 0"

  2. To answer to Sue, no this coat is not 100% pure wool but they do not d'au how much exactly. I checked just in case because you know they do ship international .....I am lost along with my credit card!

  3. I bought a couple of things from them early on and ended up not being terribly impressed with the quality. It's been a while, though, so they may have upped their game...

  4. That coat is tempting, but I still don't know how heavy a coat I need in DC. I'm also going to check out the coats by Sezane, a Parisian line.

    1. As a DC resident, I use a wool, lined winter coat for most of the winter. There will be plenty of cold, windy days. Once in a while I pull out the down puffer knee-length jacket, but that's fairly rare.

  5. I love that pea coat but that army jacket is pretty much perfect too.

  6. I've had my eye on that coat since they released the fall preview photos. It is perfection. Seriously. I've never ordered anything from them, but I just love the chic pared down aesthetic and the coats and jackets especially always look so tempting. The pea coat for sure is at the top of my list, but there's a nice masculine camel coat as well that looks gorgoues:

I am too chicken to order things online unless I know for certain how they're going to fit (or unless there's free shipping and returns), otherwise for sure I would have some EF pieces by now.

  7. Love the length of this coat! Cozy for chilly days in the Pacific Northwest. I have my J. Crew peacoat and that may have to do; love it, but really do love the length and look of the! Thanks! xox Kim

  8. Just gorgeous. The very definition of effortless + chic. I've been eyeing this coat and the single welt coat since EF released the fall preview. I like long coats given how cold NYC winters are. I'm always tempted by a beautiful coat.
