Emerson Fry x les anti-modernes* // fall essentials

is there anything better than a great coat and luxe accessories to usher in fall? this month, i've teamed up with the lovely folks at Emerson Fry on my fall essentials edit.

i'm particularly inspired by a textured take on seasonless classics, and these are my favorites from the EF Fall 2014 collection: the gentlewoman's tailored coateasy luxe slides, and a convertible portfolio.

a proper topcoat has been on my wishlist for years. this coated tweed version is softly structured, and the straight cut allows for enough room to layer a thin knit underneath. (i'm wearing a 0. the sleeves are a smidge long, so i may get them shortened.)

styled with everlane tee // AG jeans // emerson loafers

i'm always on the lookout for chic flats, so the cobra embossed slides are perfect for transitional fall and loungey weekends. (i went with these in 36 – i'm usually a narrow-ish 6.5.) the portfolio is quite practical as an elegant crossbody/work bag (room enough for essentials, laptop + files) that transforms into an oversized clutch. i love that the detachable shoulder strap is constructed out of a thick and buttery-soft leather.

styled with kai-aakmann sweatshirt // AG jeans

i hope this is helpful if you're considering some of these pieces! happy fall wardrobe building, and let me know if you get anything from the new EF collection :)

  1. Can you recommend some soft pants (e.g. not jeans) that aren't sweatpants and that might work for fall? This last week I keep reaching for something like that in my closet, but it doesn't exist. You were the first person I thought to ask.

  2. Those are all lovely! I've longed eyed the slides in black but wondered just how practical they were for city walking. Your take? Good for a long haul or better for a short stroll?

    1. long haul ready, just make sure you get the right fit :) i think the idea of an elegant slipper for weekend/errands/travel is pretty genius.

    2. Thanks! That's very good to know. I will write to the lovely EF people and inquire about sizes (since, *of course,* I'm a half size!) I do love the look of that slide. Such a sophisticated alternative to a ballet slipper.

    3. FYI i thought i was a 37 in these but they were a smidge long and fit more like a full 7. if your feet aren't wide, sizing down if you're a half size may be a better fit.

  3. Emerson Fry sure does a lovely coat don't they? We're coming into Summer now (even though I just bought a raw wool one from Cos....) but it's still been a little icy here in Sydney. Maybe I need another back up?

  4. EF's coats, sweaters, slides....photography! Damn, they make it all look so appealing. I've been tempted by the slides, and also the 3/4 sleeve wool coat, but I haven't pushed "buy" yet! Love your choices, Miss Sophie!
